Kids Feeding Kids

Second Generation is now working with Springfield Public Schools providing meals for underprivileged children in our community. Each weekend the children will be provided a backpack filled with kid-friendly, nutritious meals.

One Saturday a month, a different grade level will come to the church to fill a month’s supply of backpacks for the children.

The 2nd Graders can begin signing up on October 17th.

Second Generation Family Day at the ZOO!

Second Generation Family Day is coming up soon! We will be going to Dickerson Park Zoo on September 12, 2010 from 3:00p-7:00p. The cost is $3.00/child and 5.00/adult. Backyard Burger will be serving us a FREE dinner that evening at the zoo under the pavilions! Be sure to bring the whole family!

You can sign up for this beginning next week on August 29 at the Second Generation Greeter's station.

Children's Appreciation Dinner

On August 11, 2010 at 5:45p.m. there will be a Children's Appreciation Dinner featuring a stand up comedian, Pete McCloud. You won't want to miss this!

Pete's act is more than just stand-up comedy. Pete’s skills in storytelling, songwriting, magic, comedy, gymnastics and a Master’s degree in counseling combine for a program that is thoroughly entertaining and totally inspirational.

This will be a fun time of fellowship and a great kickoff for our Fall workers who are involved in AWANA, Pre-School and Children's Ministry. We appreciate you!

A Heart of Service for Children

Thank you for those of you who signed up for A Heart of Service in the Chidren's Ministry area. I am thankful that you have a heart for serving the children of our church. The Children’s Ministry, Second Generation, has many ways we use volunteers. I’m sure there is an area you will find that suits your personality, interests and talents the best.

I look forward to meeting and learning more about you in our informational meetings coming up soon. Because we have several different ways we use volunteers, I would like to invite you to an informational meeting to help find the best match for you.

We are hosting two informational meetings. At each of those meetings we will have a room with information for our AWANA Clubs and a room for Second Generation (children). Please choose one of the dates below that works best for you.

CSI: The Case for Christ (4th & 5th Graders) July 5-9, 2010

At camp, your job will be to learn the skills necessary to SEEK, FIND, and KNOW the TRUTH.
Your mission assignment will be to search for evidence in the Case for Christ. Through this investigation our Lead Investigators will teach our junior cadets the truth about the resurrection of Christ complete with Crime Scene investigations and Crime Lab evidence.

We will prove the TRUTH!

Parents: Be sure and mark you calendar for our Parent Camper Meeting on June 13th.
